3 Coils, Bracket, Wiring Kit & Hardware
Here’s where you get a great price on the bracket, coil pack wiring kit, and three brand new coil packs. Price includes stainless hardware for mounting the coils to the bracket, and the bracket to the engine. You will need to change the terminals on the coil pack end of the spark plug wires to fit on the coils. Please see related products. You can substitute original MSD coils in the options list on the right.
Kits are shipped unassembled. In the hardware kit, there are three nylon nuts and three stainless nuts. The nylon nuts go on the terminal end of the coils to prevent the terminals from grounding out on the nut.
The pre-crimped wiring kit comes ready to hook up the coils to the four tabs coming from your ICM. You will have to snip about 1/4" off the end of the ICM leads.
All spark plug wire sets available in the Options list will include boots and terminals. MSD wire sets have generic boots included, so if you want the spark plug boots that have "MSD" molded in to the top, you'll have to add the MSD boots/terminals.
Here's a little bit of information about the wire I use:
Waytek Wire’s cross-link automotive wire is constructed with chemically altered polyethylene insulation, making it more durable and resistant to heat than standard GPT automotive wire. Our auto wiring features a smooth surface finish and is resistant to moisture, grease, oil, gasoline, most acids and solvents. It’s typically used in high temperature areas, such as connecting wiring to circuit protection devices or fuse blocks in engine compartments or automotive wiring connectors. Our cross-link wire meets SAE J1128 standards and is designed for applications where higher heat resistance is required.
Note: During installation, avoid using the rubber grommets included with the coils. I have never used them in any installation I've done personally, and have driven tens of thousands of miles without the grommets. They sometimes prevent the wire terminal from seating properly in the coils. You will feel a definite 'click' when the wiring terminal adapter is seated properly.
